Questions
How do I open a DWG file without AutoCAD?
Tap Open a DWG file on this page and pick the file. It opens in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
What is a DWG file?
A drawing saved by AutoCAD or a similar program. Architects and designers send plans, sections and details as DWG files. Here you can look at one and measure it without AutoCAD.
Is it free?
Yes. Opening and measuring are free. Open as many files as you like, each up to 40 MB.
Can I hide layers?
Yes. Under More, switch off the layers you do not need, and a busy plan is easier to read.
Are the measurements right?
A DWG usually stores its units, so lengths come out true to size. With Snap on, tapping near a line end or corner snaps the measuring point to it. To be sure, first measure one dimension written on the drawing and compare. If a file has no units, press More, then Set scale, and choose “I know a length”.
What if my DWG does not open?
The page says in plain words what went wrong, for example that the file is larger than 40 MB or damaged. Then ask the sender for a PDF of the drawing and open it in the PDF viewer.
Can I open a DXF file too?
Yes. This site opens both: a DWG on this page, a DXF in the DXF viewer.
What happens to my file?
Files are deleted within 1 hour, never stored, never used for AI training, processed in the EU. It is opened in a separate process with no network access.
